      Performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for complex grants and contracts. Prepares, negotiates, and monitors grants, contracts, and budgets. Maintains award-related schedules, prepares complex government applications and reports, and interprets policy and procedure. Monitors account activity, performs internal audits, resolves complex issues, and reviews routine financial documents. Develops and implements accounting techniques and procedures for operational improvements and assists with managing special projects and preparing operating budgets.Coordinates with School of Dental Medicine Office of Research Manager, as well as SDM Associate Dean for Research, to provide outstanding support to all research faculty and staff in the areas of proposal submission, award execution and data management and report generation. Provides advanced level support in the area of pre-award administration; primarily at the proposal stage but also through facilitation of account award activities. Works with personnel from within and outside the University to ensure successful submission of grant applications, processing of award letters of agreement and information needed by sponsor agencies (such as Just In Time materials). Responsible for understanding and interpreting budgetary regulations and specific award opportunity guidance. Generates complex budgets to accommodate proposed research projects, ensuring accuracy of salaries, other direct cost categories, and fringe/indirect cost rates. Verifies subcontract budgets and prepares outgoing subcontract requests. Disseminates grant opportunity and other related information to research faculty and staff. Maintains current knowledge of NIH, NSF, and other federal grant guidelines, as well as remains up-to-date on University policy and procedure. Proficient with system-to-system grant application software, particularly the University's own MyFunding/PERIS module, but other grant application packages and systems as well including those for other federal agencies (NSF, HRSA) and other relevant sponsors.!*!
